GALLERY & REPORT: MK Dons V Tranmere (PSF)

Dons fan Phil McNamara was at Wednesday's pre-season friendly against Tranmere Rovers and has sent the MKDSA this report and match gallery. Access the gallery by clicking here.

Apologies for the mainly second half report, I missed the first half due to an exceptionally bad Dublin rush hour and a Sat Nav that sent me everywhere except for where I wanted to go.

Again perfect conditions for good football, just the right temperature and a another perfect playing service at the AUL Training Complex in North Dubin, which used to be the training base for the Irish National Side.

Tranmere came out of the blocks firing and quickly scored 2 goals to put them in the ascendency. But this galvanised the Dons who struck back, with 3 goals; scorers Furlong, Baldock, Assante-Thomas.

Second Half again started in high octane fashion with both sides playing good football, the game ebbed and flowed, with many changes on both sides.

Ben Reeves looked particularly impressive and I Just hope he has better luck with injuries this season, his dead ball accuracy and passing ability will be needed and Samir Carruthers again showing a good work ethic, these 2 with Darren Potter should be a formidable midfield in League 1.

Dave Martin also got his first game minutes of the tour, so must be on the mend from injury.

The Dons seemed to be in control 2nd Half with both teams cancelling each other out, until the 83rd minute, when Oran Jackson got caught on the ball, Just outside the area and Jake Kirby, took the ball on and buried a fierce shot in the bottom left hand corner, to give Charlie Burns no chance, Oran won't need reminding about his mistake, the look on his face said it all, but for the young players this is all a learning curve in there development.

Overall again a successful tour, good training and playing conditions, some good opposition and entertaining matches, the fitness levels are looking good, some of the younger players looking very promising for the future and fitting in well with the senior players.

The squad is a bit light at the moment so expect a few more players to come in, Simon Church is still on holiday after Euros and I expect we won't know his future for another week.
